Nice shot of the cake Pod.
DJ birthdays are usually fun to shoot. The club revamped the Terrace DJ booth and put back the 'entourage' VIP so there's maneuvering room again.

I live in the Scandinavian region, and while beautiful, they are boring and stiff as ****. Belgium is known for its crazy party peeps, and I must say part of it is true. I usually shoot drum & bass, dubstep and electro gigs where the people are really energetic and pumped up, I love it! Facebook

How does everyone here angle their flash when shooting portrait? hey thanks bud, lately ive been at 1250-1600 on the 5D and enjoying the hell out of it. flash is on -camera. I tried off once and couldnt get into it. it takes some practice and time to get used to, I will probably try it again at some point. raѕιdel ѕlιĸa f l i c k r

How do you guys angle your flash when shooting portrait? I've been pointing mine up at around 45 degrees but keep getting dark bottoms like this: ![]() How can I fix it? If you are using f2.8 or faster then you could always point the flash backwards and bounce of the ceiling? this generaly works well or you could use a ttl wire and hold it in your left hand and that way you could point it anywhere

Feb 08, 2012 11:21 | #3013 I don't change the position of the flash at all when shooting vertical - I am at ISO 1000 and above (lately at 1600 for most of the night) and so not much flash power is needed - it's ok that most of the light is being lost on the side. If there is ambient light, the flash becomes more of a fill light (as you can see above). One thing I do is block the flash head with my hand, since all I am using is the built-in bounce card, and if I don't do that, it is likely that I'll blind someone on the left. Hope that helps, raѕιdel ѕlιĸa f l i c k r

If I were to take a photo at ISO 1600 without flash - even at half a second shutter (if I could hold the camera perfectly still) it would no doubt just be mostly black. Daniel Watson BA(Hons)

Feb 08, 2012 13:25 | #3015 no no, I didn't say I'm taking photos WITHOUT flash. I said a lot of the light is being lost on the side, but its still going forward because of the card - I have also done it with the Stofen, that works well in this scenario too. raѕιdel ѕlιĸa f l i c k r
