URGH! people like him really **** me off.. I usually just put the camera down and stare at him with a "I'm gonna smash your face in with this magnesium alloy camera" look...

they will normally move away until you pull the camera back up and then they jump back in... by this point I physically push them away and if he does it a 3rd time he's out of the club by the bouncers.

I never have a problem with it anywhere else in the world.. just the UK..

@Gambit: Haha yeah, that's exactly what happens. Ask them to move, they step away - then as soon as you look back through the viewfinder they jump back in. I get really angry at people sometimes which isn't cool, so usually end up just walking off. Always seems to be when you're taking a photo of hot girls though! Guess it's just something that comes with the job. Unfortunately for me though his face would probably break my camera!

@fminus: Nice website man, is it entirely run by you? If you don't mind me asking, do you make much from it?

I seriously need to stop dragging the shutter. ****'s addictive.

Are my photos looking over-saturated to you? Can't tell if it's my monitor... Shoving +5 saturation all around in Lightroom but thinking it may be a tad much now.

I tend to leave the saturation at 0 in Lightroom... occasionally I bump up the vibrance a couple of stops and take down the saturation of the orange in the HSL area.

what I tend to do even more now is not even touch vibrance or saturation but just use HSL and bump up the greens blues aquas and purples. gives you much more control of the picture, especially if you like to drag the shutter you can focus on the colours of the light without destroying the skin tone.

@fminus: Nice website man, is it entirely run by you? If you don't mind me asking, do you make much from it

Yeah, The site is run by my, and all the photos on there I have taken. The site, itself, has just been launched, so there isn't much traffic going there. Once content increases, I might put some banners up.

But the events themselves, I do get paid for. It depends, usually it ranges from 120-150USD a night.

Unfortunately, it has become increasingly difficult to find nightclub work. Many nightclubs are provided photographers for free or they aren't willing to pay a fair wage. The concern of photo quality is of no concern to many nightclub managers, as they are more than happy with ****ty photographs that are grainy, out of focus, and poorly lit.

It's hard to compete with this business model, so I am currently looking for new ways to market myself. I do have people who like my style, so most of my business now comes from word of mouth.

If someone else would like to contribute on how I can overcome the above mentioned problem, I would love to hear it.

I find this too, even in Glasgow. The nightclubs arent wanting to spend any money on photographers. The ones that do pay are part of a company and you get lost in the business. I cant get no where near that wage for a night. I would be lucky to get that a MONTH for one promoters night. Its really cut-throat the now.

I would love to know how to get clubs to realise that they should have good photographs to portray the image of the club.
