Ah what a night. I was out shooting the Knife Party show. Man..there were even times when I had to run off the dance floor because it was way too crazy.

The lighting was erratic. Strobe -> Complete brightness -> Dark blues -> Reds -> Heavy smoke.

So, in all the madness of getting punched in the face, kicked on, trampled, having my ETTL go ape****, I managed.

If any of you guys are interested the pics are here:

Eh, not really. I can get off a good 100-150 shots on iso100. That is more than enough to cover me for the night. If I am working a long shift, like 3-4hrs, I just bump the iso to ISO200.

Never had a problem running out of juice so far!

You also are my complete opposite. I mainly shoot at ISO 1600, 1/16 on a 430exII. I shoot around 550 shots per night, a set of batteries can last me for 2-3 nights :)

Lots of amazing stuff here! I take photos for my brother's Drum and Bass night called Dystopia. Other than that, whenever his crew throws a party I'm shooting for them since they're close friends.

A few from last month. There's a big headliner coming for next week's edition, gonna rent a 28 1.8 :)

I shoot around 200-300 shots a night, and with my 580EXII at 1/2 power down to 1/8 power my batteries last about a night and a half, but I charge them fully before each night just to be safe. (Using 2700 mAh batteries)

what kind of flash do you use? last night I shot 750 photos on 4 batteries on 580EXII. Not all of them are with flash, but most are. I am usually at -1/3 power, ISO 800-1600. I use 2700mAh Powerex and Calumet batteries. (I'm not saying there is any 'right' or 'wrong' way - just asking questions and sharing info)

srika: I use a 580EXII on camera as a fill, and hold a 430exii off camera as a main light with a big bounce attached.

Also shot a Congorock show two nights ago here:

It was fun. Unfortunately, I don't think many people knew who he was :/

cabinajm, you're getting good at this. You've really upped your game since you first started posting here. :)

Thanks Irish. I unfortunately don't have the cool lighting you all get to work with so a majority of my pics look bland. I had the opportunity to work on this music video, and am hoping that when Gervais comes to town to play at Fur I'll be able to get some shots like what you all get with the DJs.

My manager has just emailed me asking for high res images of all my work because the office want to use them for print and presentations... Should I provide full sized 100% quality exports or shrink them a little?

You shouldn't. You should sell high-res photos at a bigger price.

I presume you never discussed this with your manager, so he probably don't want to pay more cash, or considered ever be charged for high-res.

You got there a dilemma to solve... Best of luck!
