Wicked shots xlynx! What lens were you using? I would imagine the 17-40 L but have no idea how you'd get so much light with just the f/4.

for last party I had used 17-40L and 135L(coz I have no another fast autofocus lens now) with 5dc.
But some previous shots were made with: Tokina 11-16(on 30d), 50/1.4 , 85 1.8.

I think to buy used ef 28/1.8 today, but not sure yet.

The dancers are **** hot.
I imagine it to be a really upmarket place?

"upmarket" ? ) hmm.. not sure, maybe just for local level. Entrance for those "VIP" party cost less than 10$ and face/dress control is just formality. But interior is nice, true =)

so uhh.. where is this club exactly? and, would you be able to get me in? ;)

))) Of course, I will provide free entrance for you. If you're will come get here: (google) (external link)

Can anyone recommend a good online service for storing and backing up your original RAW files? I was going to be an external hard drive for my originals but I've had one too many fail on me in the past and I'd feel more secure going with an online system like Mozy or Carbonite, etc.

Just wondering if anyone recommends a certain vendor.

Thanks!

You could always go with a Drobo device with RAID support, that is what I have on my network at home, 30TB of storage.

If anything is really important, I will ALSO backup on an additional external and store in my office at work off-site, in the rare possibility of theft or a fire for example.

Man, I'd love to... But realistically have 0% chance of going. How do you get work at these places?!

pretty urgent advice needed here:

Has anyone ever shot at a UV PAINT event??? yes I did say paint... this is an event in a club that's going to have paint cannons, pistols etc etc...

how would one go about protecting the camera from getting covered in paint??

I have an underwater case but it's not much use in a club as it doesn't have space for a flash.. and you dont have much control of the lens. or any functions tbh..

I'm thinking of just covering the main parts in cling film?

helppp

may by this (external link) will help you somehow .. )

Key Suggestions:

Stay away from people that are throwing if you don’t want to be thrown on.
Consider a long telephoto lens to shoot from far.
Consider staying in no throw areas. (If you’re more worried)
Use an internal focus, internal zoom lens… or a prime.
Pro lenses will handle the dust better than cheap lenses.
Use lens filters.
Consider a lens hood.
Don’t change lenses, specially not anywhere near the action.
Don’t change memory cards, specially not anywhere near the action, dust can be even more dangerous than water to a memory card.
This means get a big memory card.
Bag them cameras and lenses up… get some tap and cover any openings.
Wear a jacket and tuck the camera inside when not being used.
Make it known you’re not part of the action and they’ll tend to be nicer.

I did do one a while back and I accidentally got shot with a load of paint and it went all over my camera. Although the camera was fine. It didn't have any protection. Its not really loads that you'll get on it, only some. Unless your running infront of it. Should your camera not be water sealed anyway?
