I like it too.. What software are you using? Photomatix?

nice. it's Lucis SE. pseudo-HDR type of processing for single images, similar to Topaz but much simpler interface.

There's a lot of innuendo in those paint photos...

how do you guys get your ambient light in the photos so bright? Is it the venue that has good lighting or just the magic from the camera :)

This past weekend, tried going off camera with the flash a little more, loved the results. Also just updated my watermark for Late Night DC Photos, really long time coming... simple and effective...

I live in Miami so I'm always around. I'm with my usual people (Space and the Go Big Pool Parties) all week, so that's where I'll be at.

Check your PM

As far as missing Ultra, it's really no big deal, there's so many other (in my opinion) more interesting events going on throughout the week. Ultra is good as a showcase but the performers save their real efforts for their club gigs. Case in point, someone like Loco Dice will play for 90 minutes in the afternoon at some tent at the festival, but he'll play for 14 hours at Space.

Yea, Ultra for me is more about the environment of the festival. I like shooting big festivals and concerts, the amount of artist playing just makes it all worth while, plus i would have liked that payday aswell lol

As for getting booked for Conference parties? I've found in my experience (not counting local shooters like myself) that most of the out-of-town guys usually work for a big publication or for one of the big club-photo websites that shall not be named

Shot at a charity event over the weekend. My first time being prepared to shoot in a club. Would love some C&C on them.

Didn't try any of the light swirl effects out, and had a really tough time shooting in portrait with the flash (was using a sto-fen). Any pointers?

I'm going to be pretty harsh here and say these very under exposed and bland, there's no punch in them.

shoot with manual flash and adjust according to the club and surroundings...
try removing the stofen and bouncing the flash off walls/ceilings
a little bit of PP makes a huge difference too, just adjusting contrast and colours, to make the picture much more vibrant and attractive

Here's the teaser video for the new Cedric Gervais song "Molly". I had the opportunity to assist on set, and it was a cool experience. Shot at DC Underground, shot, directed and edited by some friends of mine.

Thanks man! Appreciate the feedback. I was thinking the flash was really weak, but there was no way to bounce the flash off the ceiling (over 20 feet high), maybe a bounce card then? Ill definitely try manual next time.
