Got a few shots from working last week in a club.
They put a hot tub on the dance floor... Was pretty mental!

I kno the photos arnt the bestm But some feedback on them would be great, it's my first nightclub job. Used to shooting in bars where the lighting as much easier!

Sigma 30mm 1.4 - This lens does exceptionally well in nightlife photography.. Some might prefer something a little wider, but it worked well for me that night. This was my first time ever shooting in a club or low, constantly changing light and I think I did a decent job. I think I captured good ambient light and my flash didn't overpower it. I'll take any and all C&C. Thanks!

P.S. Sorry about the watermarks, but it's to prevent them from being taken and posted on the club's website for now. They were sample pics for the VIP host to pass along to the club manager to see if they'd be interested in having me shoot there in the future. *fingers crossed*

How do you get the pics that clean with such a high ISO (6400) on a 60D? Also, do you shoot in Manual or priority? Thank you...just curious, im trying to get better at night photography so any tips is greatly appreciated : )

Shot at Mint Club for the first time last night... It has this huge light panel that covers the entire ceiling! Was great fun but also a nightmare at times.

I did notice that the exif settings are on some of the pics and then others I think deleted the metadata in processing because it doesnt show up.

I typically shoot at 400-600 ISO (to avoid to much noise), 1,10-1/60 of a second and 2.8-4.5 so I guess im in there too with what your using. Ive been shooting for some djs and trying to get more creative and better. I struggle with my flash (580ex II) settings to but I guess practice will make perfect so Ill just keep doing my thing.

1. Does anyone have a preferred noise reducing software? Ive used neat noise but it makes things look so plasticky and weird so I stopped using it & lightroom does ok too but not the best either unless im just using the wrong settings. I try not to go over 50% on it or lightroom makes it too blurry even with sharpening.

2. What light modifiers do you prefer? I have the gary fong, flip it large, ring flash but find I prefer to just use my flash pointed at a forward angle up and then i use the built in white card on my flash.

3. Why does a prime do so much better at grabbing colors? I usually shoot with my 24-70 2.8 and i put the 50mm 1.8 on this last one and the colors looked 1000% more colorful, why is this? Im not real techy so if theres an obvious reason it escapes me

Most of us leave our exif data intact if you want to check settings. They vary wildy depending on the amount and postion of the lights in the club. My general settings are:
ISO 400-3200
shutter 1/250-1sec
apature 1.4-5.6

Ah, I don't know if this is considered "nightclub" work, but I am going to throw it in here anyway.

I had a day off work, so I shot this festival in the park:

http://nullochvoid.com …a-2012-party-in-the-park/ (external link)

Once again. In typical fashion, I shot with two flashes, at iso200. But because it was so sunny I had to have a shutter of around 1600. I dropped it lower as the day wore on and ambient light gave out.

Like I said, not nightclub stuff, but still fun to see some stuff during the day.

Some nice stuff man! Were you using the 30 on a full frame? Usually the club I work at is so crowded that 17mm isn't even wide enough for me. Good luck getting the gig!

I'm not one of the best here but based on what I've heard and seen, I'd say your subjects are underexposed. Usually people overexpose their subjects a little more to get the "pop".

How many drinks do you guys have when you're properly hired to shoot in a night club?

I'd like to know this too. I know a lot of photographers consider it unprofessional, but I think having 1 or 2 drinks makes it a little easier to mingle with the crowd and get more personal shots.

I usually have quite a few - but try not to get wasted! I work mainly with a student promotions company though, where pretty much all the staff drink.

Few from tonight:

All pretty much straight from camera other than clarity/blacks!
