asheebee30: For someone who has done alot of studio work, I assume you recognize the importance of proper lighting. That being said, throw your flash off camera for the nightclub stuff.
And that's the art of candids. Shoot from the hip. Or if you want, bring a longer lens, and snipe.
LOL....ya id o understand it. Ive done stuff where ill have a light on a stand at the dj and ill go behind the crows with the dj to the end of them on my opposit side and do a long exposure, those are fun. Also, Ive done crowd shots and stuff like that, especially super large crowds, had my 580 exII almost busted three times this last dance from ravers hopping around and knocking it over! Someimtes i just get lazy though and leave it on. Id like to perfect the rear curtain sync to do the creative streaking of the lights, i think its going to be a challenge not getting ghosts and colors on their faces. Has anyone payed with the strobic feature on the 580EX II.....its the last setting that makes for some cool dj shots since you can get a pic of him in the three places at once
Someone asked about attachments: I have the Demb big FLIP IT, GAry FONG CLOUDSPHERE, RING FLASH & many other money guzzlig concoctions, with that said ive put each on and taken a pic....the cloudsphere beats the flip it for softer light & the ring flash is amazing for a cool light that wraps around ytour subject but it blocks my flashes infrared focusing sensor and makes it impossible to take shots in low light so i hardly use it. Most of the time, even if theres no bounce, (where is hoot all the time its darker ceilings) I just angle the flash up at about a75 degree angle (i dont know math but that sounds about right) then I use the white card built into the flash for fill on the faces since girls dont like having racoon eyes so much lol
