Great shots!!! These exposures are spot on. How do you go about metering? Do you guess and set your exposure and aperture than let ettl pick the right flash power?
thanks - I just leave the metering on spot-center - it may not even be the best setting - truth be told, I haven't experimented with changing metering.
I typically use the same range of settings at any venue these days. ISO 1250-3200 (the max on the 5D - the first 3 above are all 3200, the one below is 1600), 1/5 to around 1/15 or so for shutter (obviously much faster if there are bright lights that come on here and there - I have the Custom mode dial set specifically for when this happens, it is ISO 400 and shutter of 1/80 or so). For aperture I'm usually wide open, lately I have been primarily using the 17-40L (all 4 shots above) - so those are all at f/4.0. Regarding flash, I am always on ETTL and I used to adjust flash output but these days I just leave it at 0 for the most part, like 95% of the time. The setting I adjust the most is ISO - change that based on lighting.
