Well i had a look around and supposedly it can be 'too bright'. This was only one post of flickr though.

It uses a 'laser' or a laser LED (unsure as to which and I cant seem to find the actual spec). It only covers the middle AF point, which I guess is the one you only really need anyway in most circumstances.

I will hopefully have one soon and will give it a whirl, if it is too bright, maybe a small piece of glass in front of it may be enough to calm the effect? Maybe try some old cheap ND filter glass.

Mine have just arrived and I am already impressed with the wireless range.
The AF beam is a hatch pattern: - | - | - | - in a circle which works well and is bright.
Only problem (as it always seems to be) is how can you get the thing level on the hot shoe?...the AF beam is slightly off centre.
And i can not seem to get 2nd curtain syn to work (although it specifically says 2nd curtain is an option in the manual) on a 60D with 430EXII
Solution: Apparently, some may need to (I had to) reset each tx/rx and also the camera settings. Once I had changed the flash batteries (the flash symbol shows in the viewfinder although it is not charged); in ext. flash settings menu 1) Change Wireless to Disabled and then sync to 2nd curtain.
Seems to be all good now :). What an odd thing though. I also am using a rubberband to "pull" the AF assistbeam down a bit. Ofc as your range increases, the pattern is larger (so must not be a laser anyway) so the coverage when zoomed improves.

Hey guys,

Been shooting in "clubs" for the past few months, I've held off on posting in this thread because I'm only like 90% through the old one, but oh well here I am.

My regular place got shut down so now I'm just doing random gigs as I can get them, but I'll be shooting Hardwell this week and Aoki in December!

After two years, I'm starting to tire of nightlife/nightclub photography... maybe it's because on Sunday mornings my wife leaves for work early and the kids wake up at 6-7am... ugh! I'm getting old...
