*self-crit*
1. I wish it was a bit sharper, but I am shooting at 10000 ISO, compromises must be made I guess? -they are only for facebook anyway..

2. Im too much of a sucker for the flaring/light rays, that was my style pre-event photography and that has continued straight into my club photos as well
I'd appreciate opinions on this, I dont like the ghosting/light trail style, whist it is amazing if done properly, I'm no good at it LOL
ALSO- does anyone know how strong the lights are in the club? im shooting directly into them and I wasnt worried when I was shooting my 450d/550d into the sun but now I've spent the money on a 6D and dont know how strong they are...


3. I also got rid of my off camera key light when I upgraded to the 6D, it's just too bloody hot in the club and I go through like 2Litres of water during the 3 hours of shooting.
I think the ISO on the 6D is capable with just some fill flash so I'd rather travel light.
yay or nay? should I add a key light? would a 270ex (the tiny one) fill my needs or will I need to stick with what I have now?

4. They are 2 similar shots, would you recommend I only use one of them in a portfolio? I dont yet have a complete event/club-specific portfolio anyway..

btw...can someone tell me how to upload more than 2 photos at a time...LOL

Kyeol58: Your pictures aren't sharp. Try bumping up your shutters speed to sync with the ambient lights. 10000 is ridiculous, IMHO. Try sticking to ISO3200.

2. Light trails from long shutter speeds, in my opinion, are gimmicky and look cheesy. They remind me of nightclub photography from the 90s. If done right, and very seldom, they can come off as ok in the right situation. Though 99% of the time, people do it wrong, and it looks horrible.

3. Always use an off camera light / two flashes. It makes a world of difference and will separate your shots in terms of quality from other photographers.

- Side note. Remove/modify your watermark on the images. "Kyeol Photography" yielded zero results via google. You might want to add a url below it for customers to find you better.

Johnny010: Your photos are fine. If you need to nitpick, try bringing up the blacks in ACR/Lightroom in Photo 1/6 so you can see some of the clothes better and separate them from the background.

1. 10,000 ISO is excessive, and that's probably why you're getting such soft pictures. The noise reduction you're likely applying is causing this.
2. Nightclub lighting varies greatly, the best way to learn of their power is by experience with trial and error, or metering properly. As far as I know, shooting into a nightclub light will not damage your camera.
3. You need an off camera flash. Sure, ambient shots are a large part of nightclub photography, but for pictures of people, it's really a requirement. I don't really understand why you're water intake relates to not using a flash, but I guess you have your reasons.
4. To include more than 2 pictures, you need to embed them. Personally I export with the long edge being 1200px, upload to imageshack and then use the direct link to insert them in.
5. I get paid around £20 a night. Brutal underpayment, but I can't complain - I'm a student.

Extra: I'm probably going to sound an ass by saying this. But could you please utilise punctuation and capitalisations? It's a pain reading through anything other.

Really like the face profile shadow on her mid-section here. By the shadow on her shorts and legs, I take this as a lighting artifact and not her costume?

Thanks . I see what you mean...will be raising the shadows in future to bring them out.

Here is a DJ shot from last weekend, definitely going to play with back-lighting more in future. Love the look!
