I actually didn't look closely at the image and was confusing it with EOS 1-DX. I was thinking, "This man is using a 7K USD camera for nightclub work? " That camera, imho is overkill for nightclub work.

I am using a 5dmkii, so I am not the one to talk.

Hey guys so I am taking pictures at a foam party coming up and I was wondering if you guys have shot at any events like this? If so what did you guys use to protect your camera from the mess?

I shot a Dayglow event once and I used that rubbery camera armor to protect my camera. I took as many pics as I could but then things started to get REALLY messy and I had to call it a night in order to not have my gear damaged. I used a jogging wristband around the LCD of my 430EX to protect that too:p

codak: Depends on your equipment. Some cameras are "water sealed" and some flashes have a similar "seal". This would be the first line of defence.

You could invest in some waterproof housing. Though, I am not sure they make ones that you are allowed to use a flash on. And they are expensive.

Or you can do my favourite tried and true method. Rubberbands, plastic bags, and common sense.

Thanks guys, only a small part of the club will be filled with foam so I will try to avoid it, just get a few shots of the action. I'll be using a 5d2/24-70/580ex, I will most likely use the plastic bag and rubber band haha this will be interesting thats for sure!

I'd love a 1Dx. Overkill or not, the low ISO prefformance would be a godsend in the club where I'm the in-house photographer, becuse it's baisicly a dark basment. Usable ISO 12800 would open up some new things to try
But no where near there yet, to pickup a 6k € camera... Even if I start getting more income from photography, there's still a lot of glass to get before a new body

As far as foam is concerned, I never had any problems without any protection. The foam isn't as wet as you think. Just use your head, stand behind the foam machine/canon, watch your step.
If your a bit paranoid about the equipment wrap the lense and body in a plastic bag with some silica gel bags in it and seal up the hole with tape. But changing settings will be quite hard.

I would be more concerned with what pants and shoes I have on becouse you will get wet and they will need to be cleaned (unless you stay out of the foam and do candids from higher ground - personaly I like to get in a bit closer. Just have something handy to wipe off the photo).

Here is a shot of my camera while shooting a Dayglow event here in Dec. I found some rain bags that will cover the flash and lens at local camera store. Worked great also had a cheap uv filter. Used same setup for a foam party and it worked great. If u really like to get in there for shots would recommend to get the rain cover. Also bring some shoes and pants u can toss after because that foam does get a bit grimy.

I would definitely talk to them about installing some proper lights. And by proper, I mean anything to give you some ambience. Installing some coloured lights in the corners of the club, will great some awesome ambient light at a low shutter and costs next to nothing.

It's a win / win situation for both of you, as the photos will look better, and most likely attract more people to the nightclub.

We are working on it, but slowly. The shortest possible timeframe is by the begining of the next school year.
Unfortunately 95% of our guests are students and the the attendance after newyear is quite poor, so no upgrades to the club untill some more money starts rolling in.

I have to try making my own ambiance lighting with a flash or two and colored gels on them.

MojeIme: If you wanted to be crafty, mount some speedlites on the walls with coloured gels that are triggered remotely.
