Niiiiice! I did think so as soon as I saw your last set of pics - could instantly see the increase in image quality over the 60D.

Yeah I do 2 events on 3 out of the 4 nights I work... Even used to do 3 in one night on a Saturday! Mezz, Chilli White and Paipa ha. It's just everything is going to pretty much just stop dead when it comes to summer when the students go home and be on hold until September! Ideally need something that runs 52 weeks a year.

I got my 24-105 brand new from Dale's in the Merrion Centre for £750 - they have some 'white box' models that have been separated from kits. Brand new and £150 off! The IS is awesome - it's the first time I've seen it in action and can't believe how well it works. Only thing I would wish for is f2.8 - but even f4 produces some nice blur. The extra reach has really come in handy for candids and **** too.

Cool! I had a look at Dales' website and didnt see anything under 850ish so thought it was a loss ha.
Next months pay check and after selling the 17-40 I feel it may be worth it.

I have done odds and ends jobs for people for some extra cash such as photos for their websites and recently a small amount of promo type work for the bar (shots of the interior and product deals).

I do not know what it was with the 60D, but as you I felt it lacked that certain quality. maybe the dynamic range was a bit off i think? The 5D sensors are gorgeous. The mk iii was a winner at the price I got it for. Traded in the 60D and my tamron 17-50mm and the sigma 12-24 to get the cash for it.

Many Leeds photographers seem to have jobs in the day to be honest, or travel. Nathan does I believe, have not met him yet, but know he does charge well for the nightlife and also does some great stuff in the day (fashion mainly). Justin I met once I believe he does some day photography as well. I do not think you can make buckets of cash unless you have been in it for years and years it seems.

Even then I know one guy with a Hassleblad for his day work...no way he gets that on nightlife alone ha! Oh and 2 Elinchrom Quadra Ranger kits to go with it.

I got a hold of a 430EX II with box, manual, foot, diffuser and an off shoe cord for $230 shipped from Ebay a few months back. You can also look in the 'classified' section on POTN. I see flashes on sale all of the time on here.

I feel that the 430EXII fits my needs very well. I don't feel that I need anything stronger or with extra features at the moment. I used to have the 430EX and although it served me well, I did not like the screw down foot thing. The 430EXII has a metal foot and it attaches better IMO to the camera.

You can also look on Craigslist as well. Hope this helps:D

okay, I am stuck on getting a 430exii now hah(I bought a stofen diffuser last night on amazon, woot woot haha) I have looked on CL but nothing up right now. I have the yongnuo 560 ii and was considering a 468ii, but after reading some reviews on them being finicky and my 560ii not being the most consistent I decided a canon brand is the only way to go!

When I was first buying gear for my Xti, a lot of photogs told me to stick with a Canon flash. I can buy a non Canon lens but a flash? I just can't. I have read the same reviews too so I know where you are coming from;)

@Johnny - Unfortunately man I really don't think they will cough up any more! In fact I KNOW they won't. I duno, I am really happy with what I'm doing, just wish it was a little more sustainable...

Do you have a 5D then now man? If so, which model?

Apologies for the ton of images! Trying to get into the habit of keeping active.

Great images! I'd also like to invest in a 5D, but money is always the problem.

Thank you! I know you shouldn't obsess over gear - but I never wanted to go out and use my 60D because I was never completely happy with the results. The 5D makes it so much easier. Here's a few from last night:

Your nights look so cool srika. Always have really good and interesting subjects! same with chris and shea too. If you don't mind me asking, how much do you get per event? And how did you start out / get to where you are?
