you guys talking about using off camera flash in a nightclub? how do you do that? every time I go out, the photographer only has flash on the hot shoe on the camera.
i use a flash on my hotshoe, and its normally direct flash.

I do use a mix of both. I find the off camera useful for smoked out place. Seems to kill the contrast less than on camera axis when not bouncing. If I am bouncing off a ceiling, I tend to either leave it on camera or have it in my hand anyway as I just find it easier than swiveling the flash. I can comfortably do my controls with one hand. #jcovellphoto
