Hi, new member here looking for some advice.
I recently started working in nightclubs but can't get the style of photos I want, would anyone be able to help?
I use a 6D + Canon 24-70 f2.8 + 430EX II combo (+ Stofen at 45 degrees), and I find my lighting in photos to be very inconsistent and unappealing. My settings are around ISO 3200, f4-6.3, and 1/25 - 1/40.
The venue I shoot has a very high black ceiling so bouncing flash to ceiling is useless. The lighting can be very annoying as well as they flash very quickly, so I use a high shutter speed in case the club strobes go off making my photos over exposed.
I'm thinking of getting a 580ex ii due to the more powerful bouncing I think I need, and an off camera flash cord. Will this help?
I've seen loads of photos on this thread and they just look amazing, I really hope someone can help me!
I use negative flash compensation, actually. Haha, not more like you would be getting with the 580EX. I personally like more light to be ambient than flashed. Only thing you can do is drag your shutter more or increase your ISO.
