That's why there's plenty of cold suppressants, redbull and alcohol... lol

Reminds me of the simpsons episodes that had the cold medicine mixed with alcohol; flaming moe's i think it was. lol

On the way out of the door I grabbed my 50 1.4 instead of my 12-24... That was stupid of me.
So a lot of what I did tonight was DJ and detail work, since getting dance floor shots with a 50 is hard. My girlfriend was kind enough to run the 12-24 an hour each way upto me, so I had about 45 minutes of shooting with that too.. But I really enjoyed using the 50 for DJ work.
However, this has made me realized I want a 24L really, REALLY bad.. Who can spot me some money?

I am going to try and figure out a new way to process my club shots, I am sort of getting over this style.

I'd say try using multiple strobes and plan your shots.

Damn I hate when I forget to check my file settings. How was Armin? I wanted to stop by and check it out but I was just to drained.

Well, One day I plan on going in a little early and setting up some lights in the DJ booth.

This place isn't the easiest place to shoot DJs in, it is two floors and the DJ booth is suspended in between the two floors. So really the only way to get his face is to shoot from the other DJ booth.

What I really wish I could do is put a remote camera with a fisheye onto the DJ booth pointing back at the DJ and get him spinning.. For example, this shot:

Imagine if there was a camera right in front of the mixer, so thats another thought.. But I need to get clearance to do that.

But I don't see what you mean by planning my shots, I know exactly what I want to get and I will wait until I get it.

Also, those etymotic earplugs are amazing, My ears weren't bleeding when I was 3 inches from the monitors, and I could still hear the tones in the music.
I was also able to hear people singing on the dance floor and people calling for me to take photos, for the first time since I started working the club.

I shoot raw for everything, even sports. Never know when you get a good shot and need to archive it. Storage is stupid cheap these days. Plus it gives you more processing capabilities after the capture.

Just grab some small strobes, use some cheapy wireless triggers and use some small foot stands, like the ones that come with speedlites, then go around and place them where you need to, take some quick shots and move on. I had 3x 580ex and the st-e2 controller last year for some simple shots that I wanted to get, worked pretty good, minus the st-e2 crappy 10m range.

You could also grab two friends and make them the light stand patsy, entise them with free drinks, I always did. Plus, if you go in and look like a big production crew, you generally get a lot more attention and more pics. Funny how most ppl think you are part of mtv 9 out of 10.

I use small strobes all the time for general stuff.. Just never have in the club.
I could, I like using superclamps for that type of stuff..

I'd mainly use them for the DJ because when shooting the idiots (punters) I have to move fast and don't have much room..
