(for now) Since PocketWizard are to expensive, and I only have Cactus V4 (only manual) with 430EX II, I'll probably buy an ST-E2, and hack my flash unit to connect it to PC-sync (want TTL). Do not get the ST-E2 unless you REALLY REALLY need it. The batteries it uses are very hard to come by and pretty expensive. Not to mention it's much slower to get a TTL reading compared to some newer Speedlite flashes. So if you need a good focus beam, it might be better, faster and cheaper in the long run to buy a more recent Speedlite and just turn off the flash. Website: http://www.rukes.com/

Canon on-board "flash pulses" when trying to focus is highly annoying in the club. FlickR

Yeah, I'm using Cactus triggers as well. I'm using a YN460 flash, which I'm thinking of pairing with a 430ex II on camera to alleviate the focus issues. I plan on optically triggering the YN460. It's the TTL that is slow, not the flash beam. It takes a second or two longer for the ST-E2 to "guess" the right settings, compared to a 580EX II. Website: http://www.rukes.com/

It's the guy behind camera that produces nice shots, not camera. =)

I see tons of photographers, especially in So. Cal nowadays that have awesome equipment and somehow they're producing lower and average quality. Not to assume in some amazing photographer, but i have a lot of people ask me "HOW" do i get the stuff i get using just a basic nikon d40.
