Tiesto won't let you shoot him anyway
Not necessarily true. I tour with the guy in North America. Our company handles the development of tiesto.com, so I'm along to provide support in that regard, as my "official" job. Unofficially, I shoot the events I'm present at for fun and profit.
Now, the general rule is, the booth is off limits. Since the show is typically structured like a concert, it's akin to walking on stage with your gear during a Guns N Roses show. Yeah I'm dating myself here, haha.
But, it's just not done. There's a few club sets where you might be able to get in closer, but, the key here is, with him, you gotta be discreet. Not sneaky, but discreet. No flash, work with the lighting that's there, and just make like a black hole. And, be quick. Don't linger. Get the shot and skedaddle.
Now, if you've got a tele and can stand off, rock on. If you're fifty feet off, I don't think he cares.
Now, for any one considering shooting one of his events, do not treat this as gospel. I'm just along working, and am relaying my experiences. The final arbiter of anything with him is from his management, and the venue/promoter. It's their show. What I say here may or may not apply, but in general it's what I've seen.
