Just wondering of any body uses underwater housing, and could provide me a link to a reliable seller for my XSI. Are these underwater housings usually expensive?:lol:

Mostly in the pool kind of deal. Nothing but fun snap shots.

For those types of shots I'd highly recommend a waterproof point and shoot. A full on housing for a dslr is in the thousands. The only low cost housing for your dslr is basically a heavy duty ziplock type of bag. Makes your dslr hard to control. For about the same price you can go the P&S route.

+1 on the compact camera for those types of shots.

It's not just the housing you need for your dslr - you'll need ports, cords, strobes. Expect to drop an easy $2000+ with an entry level kit :)

Even if you decide you're just going without strobes (which you'll hate doing and end up buying strobes), that is going to be one bulky rig to muck around with and it will suck the joy right out of playtime.

I would totally get something like Canon's D10 or one of the older model A series (720 is great) and the Canon housing.

Or you could check out Olympus and Fuji for their waterproof/rugged cameras. IMHO the Fuji does a better job than even the newer Olys - the Olys still have problems hitting focus all of the time and are SLOW. That said, I still have my Oly 720SW and still use it now and again (though it frustrates the heck out of me and I know I should upgrade it!)

I have and use all of these options and know which I go for every time ;)

You can get a Canon G11 with Canon underwater housing for around $600.00.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

Yes, underwater housing for DSLRs are expensive  http://www.bhphotovideo.com …71_50_eTTL_Housing_f.html (external link)

For this reason, I just went and bought a Fujifilm Z33WP (external link) (refurb) for $70 :D

I did my research and I didn't feel like buying another expensive P&S. The Fujifilm Z33WP went on sale last week for $70 and I just grabbed it. The other cameras I was looking at are the Pentax W80 and Olympus Tough 3000. You may want to look into this: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/Q209waterproofgroup/ (external link) <-- But also do your own research since it's been a year since that review.

Waterproof housing for DSLR's are super expensive. It is cheaper to just buy a high end compact camera and get a underwater housing for that.
