Some shots from Monday's All Start tournament game. We won 14-1.

Thought I was done shooting after the league championship. Anyways, I picked up two more assignments for later this week.

Funny how all the parents I saw said they are going to order prints. And what's really funny, they have all be saying that throughout the year. Yet there has been barely a trickle coming in from the league.

Enjoy and let me know what you think. All feedback is appreciated.

8. Love this one because the catcher is yelling "NO" after the ball was hit.

Thanks again.

Okay, I must be going crazy, does anyone know what flickr has changed that these links are now not working. I am taking the link from the share this drop down and selecting grab the link and copying it and pasting it into the proper place here......

Okay, figured it out. But I don't like the way they hid the code in the Grab the html link under share this.

Good stuff! Color/Contrast look excellent! Love the skin tones in all minus #2 & #8, but understandable considering headgear/mask. The tight crops make things work well. I would consider (personal preference) cropping the backside of the catcher in #8, and test crop #6 cutting off most of the bat in an attempt to keep the viewer's eyes away from the spectators in the background (would have to leave a little more room forward then, depending what was in the background). But having said that, I do really like the batter's pose with the entire bat in view. Nice job!

Thanks guys.

The flickr changes really through me. What a pain. I chose flickr because it was so easy to get the link to post here. And I pay for it.

Then they went and hid the link on me. Oh well, got it figured for next time.

Skin tones are tough on the mask shots. Especially when one of the helmets is red and the uniforms are red.

Great shots! Get used to parents saying that! I get it all the time and I have learned to shrug it off and I simply say, "well they are still on-line and there for you to see" and then usually give them another card so they have my web address.

I think they say it because they feel guilty that they have not bought yet, or that they never are but just want to make you feel that all your effort was worth it.

These are sometimes also the ones I will do some investigating on to ensure their kids have not "peeled" the photos off my site and are using them on Facebook or something.

I actually caught my sons soccer coach posting photos of his kid on facebook. I emailed him and asked him take them down and he didn't.

So I emailed facebook and then they were magically taken down. I setup the website to allow no right clicks. Because some of the wrestlers parents did the same thing.

Then they complained when I prevented them from taking the photos and posting them on facebook or emailing them to grand parents and what not.

One parent even complained to me that her prints came out terrible. I said they did? Who printed them for you I asked politely.....she said walgreens. I said oh, well the reason they printed poorly is because these are web copies and the resolution is not as good as the original file.

And if you took them from the site without permission, well then there is nothing that I can do about walgreens printing a poor photo. Of course you do have the option of purchasing a photo from me directly, or you can purchase the high quality images and have them printed if you would prefer.

She then states that I am providing poor customer service to her. My reply was very polite, but to the point, "In order for me to provide exceptional customer service, you would need to pay me for the photos before you took them from my site." End of conversation.

Hence no more right clicking on the website and being able to save photos. My own fault for not thinking of it before someone else started doing it.

preventing right click does nothing - if it's online it can be copied.

IMO - only put really low res images online (eg. 400 pixels on the longest side and saved to under 60kb or less) and watermark them directly across the middle.

you should see an increase in sales once they are not worth coping from your online account

That is what I am doing now with LR. Love setting up the template. Export, then upload. No more copying of the photos.

another thing people do to steal pics when right click is disabled is File>Save page as. Go to the folder you saved the website as and you have the pics.

funny how you have to make pics look good enough to sell, but bad enough they cannot take them.

maybe just putting a copyright symbol on them going forward........

Very nice shots, also love #8. The young ones really let the emotions show sometimes. You really seemed to nail the skin tones. I would love to be able to shoot some of the local LL games here, but since I don't have a son playing, I am going thru the league to get permission to shoot. Don't want to show up and offend some parents....

I too heard much of the "I plan to buy shots" from parents. Luckily I don't rely on them. I do have a few parents who faithfully buy prints/merchandise and I take care of them with coupons/discounts.
As far as people taking your pics, its not something we can stop. I try to make it work for me. Like others do and have said, I put a watermark on my pics (some say I went overboard) but I have gotten sales from Facebook because of the pics that people "stole" from me and posted. I also run my own test from time to time. I download my pics as if I were a parent/athlete and print them on my printer at home to see how crappy they come out. Plus I make sure they are still watermarked. So far, so good. Still getting orders from facebook/myspace.

Super clean action shots...GREAT!
Canon900 what gear are you using on these 300mm 2.8 and a MKIII body.?
I have a 50D and the 300mm2.8 but not getting anything like this... I think its the camera body lens combo that does the trick..
thanks
Joe
