CANON drop in 52mm Circular Polariser

Was wondering if these are worth the investment for motorsport use to go with my 300 f2.8 and if so where is the best place to get one from in the UK.

Although i have owned a polariser for years i have used it for everything else but motorsport and wonderd if anybody else uses one with a large prime.

Depends on what you are photographing. For saloons forget it as it will show the rainbow effect in the front screen. For single seaters it can work reasonably to get rid of the flare from the nose.

However, because you don't have consistent angles of reflected light the results are mixed. It certainly has an effect on the AF.

I use mine in extreme circumstances such as Paddock at Brands just after mid-day when you can be shooting too close to directly into the sun. Taking the race start from the second gap on the downhill bit can be a bit challenging. Because of the problems mentioned above I have to be really desperate.

Here is a shot of the HFO race start from 2008 coming into Paddock with real sun problems but using the CPL. Had to be taken to complete a commission.
