My wife was actually happy when I got back into photography, my monthly photo expenses are much less than my watch collecting hobby was.

I see these two comments a lot and I guess I just don't get it ? Regarding the first....attached a shot of a 92 pound girl who never complains about lugging this 12 pound rig around.....

....and to the second comment: I wonder how many folks on this forum have actually been mugged because of their camera gear ? Knock on wood....I've not yet been mugged, in over forty years while carrying various camera gear....and I've been in a few places that would probably be considered rather dicey.

For planned shoots in relatively secure locations I agree completely. As for getting mugged, I'm a decent sized guy 6' 250 lbs and I've been robbed for belongings much less expensive. I've learned the hard way that ignorance might be bliss but in the wrong neighborhood it can get you injured or killed.

Then again I could just be envious and spouting off sour grapes...... Thanks for the pic, a petite blonde who can handle big lenses certainly gets my attention....

Cheers,
Robbym

Just like one poster said if you think Photography is expensive. Try motor racing. I don't race and only do trackdays on my ZX10. It's pretty much $500 for a set of tyres every weekend plus trackday cost $250, and that's down the drain. I'm not rich either.

A journalist once interviewed the American (professional) skipper of a large racing yacht. When asked about the costs he replied that they replace one sail every race. Now the cost is very dependent on the size of boat, but that could be anything from £1000 to £50,000. Per race, so possibly two races a day?

When I campaigned my own boat, some 15 years ago, racing sails were costing me £2000 each. But barring accidents I replaced only one a season because finances would not stretch further.

I was walking by and noticed a bunch of white lens and photographers.

What the heck they only use 1D series and L lens? There was bodies and lens all on the wall too.

The queen was in town and they all had press id.

I went up to them and felt low with my 5D II and 24-105 F4 IS.

QUOTED IMAGE

love it! 1D and L lenses, when will you be in my arms?
