I have both, use both differently on the 5D2. The main fault with the 100L is that it makes me wish the 135L had the same IS. The 135L is also handy with the 1.4 TC.

Now to make things complicated, I just got a 7D which gives both lenses new character, and doubles the wish the 135L had IS cause the 135L is now native 216mm, with the 1.4 TC it's 302mm and with the 2x TC it's an amusing, if iffy 432mm effectively. The 100L is then an effective 160mm with around the working room of the 180L macro, but the 100L has IS making it much better to work with than the 180L.

...see what I mean, you need both. (besides the fact that they are both ace lenses you can depend on.)

The lack of IS is the only reason I'm buying the 100L before the 135L. If the 135L gets an update with IS, and maintains the same characteristics, I will almost certainly buy it, unless it was as expensive as the 200LIS, in which case I couldn't afford it any way.

If the 135L had IS I wouldn't even be deciding. I haven't tested the 100L out in real world conditions yet but I at least pulled it out and tried to shoot around my room is low light. The AF struggles in low light, more so than my 135L. Hmm, I'll have to test this a bit more

I am fortunate enough to own both the 100L and 135L.

While I purchased the 100L for macro/close up, due to its great IQ and IS, it has also replaced my 135L as my favorite short telephoto walk around/street prime.

If I will be taking pictures at an event/party/walking around or doing macro/close up, I take the 100L.

If I will be doing low light sports or portraiture, I take the 135L.

Hope this helps.

I have the 85L, 100 (non L) and the 135. The 100 is only used for macro these days. I do like the focal length, but the 85L and the 135L are just something special.

I have a 135L and am looking at a 100L. If you own both, do both lenses get much use or does one stay at home all the time? If so, which one. Thanks.

For me, it depends on what occasion I'd have.
For wedding, i will bring both of them, but 135L would be on my camera most of the time, as 100L only for capturing details (cakes, food, the gown, bouquet, etc).
100L is too short for me to take candid pics.

But i love both. very sharp!

I had both the 135L and the 100L but I just find the 100L just a bit more versatile. Sure the, 135 is faster at focusing and lets a fair bit of light in but the focal length is very close. I do enjoy macro so I guess my decision is not so difficult.

I have to be honest though since the 100L my 85L is rarely used. I supposed the 100L is designed with someone with 85 and 135 in mind with macrocapabilities :)
