Refurbished 50D canon loyalty program

just wondering if any of you guys have taken advantage of the canon loyalty program. i just called and said i can upgrade my 20D to the 50D for $669 does this sound good. any questions i should ask the canon rep if i call back and go ahead and trade it in

I had no idea there was a loyalty program, so I googled it and found this:

This guy says you should get it for $629 for "any Canon DSLR"?

I've had my refurb 50d kit since march '10 -- after careful inspection when i got it, I'd swear it was brand new! I saved soooo much -- Canon rocks!

The price seems good to me.

I had a broken Canon SD550 that I sent back and was able to get a G9 for cheap. It looked and like new and worked great until if failed a couple of months ago.

Is your 20D broken? $669 is a good price if you're trading in a broken camera. If your camera is still in good shape then you might be better off selling it. Canon is selling refurbed 50D's for $899, so you need to decide if your 20D is worth more than $230.

If the sensor is just dirty, it absolutely is.

I got my first 50D and my G9 via canon loyalty programs to upgrade my G2 and 300D

They said refurbished on the box; but didn't look touched by human hands!

I would call again... I was up in Irvine yesterday to try to get my 30D fixed (would have cost $576 to get the camera looked at) but they offered me the 50D for $599 on the spot. I did not take it because I just do not have the money and I am trying to save up for the 7D (of course the 7D is not offered on the program)

My buddy is having problems with his 30D not focusing correctly(my 50D and 20D blow his out of the water with the same settings and lens attached). He sent it to canon 3 times with the same result. He is going to take it down monday to drop it off at our local canon service center(irvine). He is getting his $180 back from the AF adjustment as a credit towards a 50D. We will see how it goes. I know they want $669+$13(shipping)+tax​(damned being cal residents) to have one sent to him.

Ive seen 50D's go for $700 here and on FM, and some mint condition. You are probably better off selling your 20D first and save a few hundred bucks.

When I called about my 30D they told me the same thing, $669, but adorama has one for $799 with a year warranty, from canon it's only 90 days. Plus you'll get more then the $130 difference in selling your 20D. If you can sell it for $300 then you only spent $499 for the 50D.

Bought a beat down digital Elph about 5 years ago on ebay and just replaced it with a "refurbished" G11 that I swear is brand new except for a tiny yellow sticker that says "refurbished".

Been holding on to my ancient 10D for eventual trade-in for 50D or 60D. My son should be old enough by then to have his own DSLR.

Great less expensive opportunity for upgrades every couple of years if you are willing to wait

I sent my 30D in for repair a couple of months ago. Estimate was $201, but I saw the loyalty program info on the repair site so I called to ask about it.

The nice lady said yes, the price for the 50D is $669 plus my 30D. Sounded good to me.

But, she said, they were out of stock on the 50D bodies.

Oh.

So, she said, they'd give me the kit - 50D plus 28-135IS for the same price.

OH!

So I jumped on it. Very happy with the 50D. It was very clean, had about 8K clicks if I can believe the software, and was perfectly adjusted. I did the microfocus adjustment on all my lenses, including the 28-135, and they were all in the range of -2 to +2.

Ummm, anyone want to buy a 28-135 IS?
