Someone just approached me today about doing a package of their newborn (not born yet). From newborn, 2 weeks, 1 month, etc (all the way up to a year). I have never done this and am really interested in starting this. I just don't know what to include in the package, how to make a contract work for it and also what price I should make it. She also wants a maternity session.
My basic prices would probably be $80 for the newborn & maternity, but how should I include the others?
My business is just now starting to take off, so pricing is really hard for me to decide on.

Just curious if any of you have these types of packages and also how you discount the entire package. Thanks!!

Im also fairly new to pricing and the business part as my work is finally starting up. I actually am doing a newborn session today and they want to do a package also for every 3 months. I normally charge 75 dollars for the session and 4 dollars a sheet 8x10 or smaller so for them I am going to charge 60 for the session instead which would be a 60 dollars saving for them and it gives me more work to do. What do you think about that? i had a hard time trying to figure out something that would work for me and them.

I suggest not doing them. The family is going to spend $X on photography, so if you do multiple sessions for the same money (in the end), you are working more for less.

I'm with Gatorboy, they usually spend money on the first one and then less on each consecutive one. Just have them walk in as they desire. I'm in my porfolio building stage and my session fee is 75.00. It is really important to let them know how much its going to be regularly. For example, I always tell my customers that its a special that is normally priced at 200.00. 4.00 for an 8x10 is very cheap, I would do at least 10.00. That way you can start building some funds up for equipment. That's my 2 cents. Thanks for reading!

I looked into some mat/ newborn sessions as a gift for a friend and what we ended up with is a package for $600 which included 2 sessions ($100) and then a $450 credit for photos. Basically you saved $50 by booking the package rather than individually. From the photographers end she was guaranteed at least that much in income.
