Thank you all for your submissions to this week's challenge, Passion.

First, some words and then the Runner-Up and winner selections. Critique that I give is based soley on my likes and preferences, and is purely subjective...

Allen: Spot on exposure, and wonderfully composed. The compression of the 200/2 L is something to behold, and isolates the subjects from the background nicely...even though the background is uncluttered and scene representitive. Well done.

Flores: This is a tough shot, since you're dealing with a background that can blow out easily. The player's face is a little dark, still. I would also prefer a little more rule-of-thirds composition even if it includes some other players. Your depth of field is good, so attention would still be drawn to your subject if he were composed to the right. Still, good photo.

Chris: I like the kinetic energy of your submission, but I would have liked to see a landscape composition showing more of the kick boxer's body and his energy. I realize this is a gym with equipment and other people, yet these are still distractions to your subject's energy, perhaps some post to black out the background and stay color (perhaps desaturated) to focus full attention to your subject. Still, nice shot.

Mo: Cute shot, and well done in keeping the highlights from blowing out. Nicely done.

Ingerson "PCD": Nice freezing of the moment. With my own personal experience shooting motocross I tend to prefer pan shots more, whether the rider is on the ground or airborn. Once again, motion and kinetic energy captured for the viewer of the image to experience the moment. Nice shot.

Steven R.: Live music energy, I like it it. I like how your composition frames the musicians with the background art in the gallery. But the depth of field has the gutairist with hair in face in focus, whereas the vocalist who's shredding the mic is oof. Just something to remember when shooting wide open in low light venues. Nice shot.

Ed: Ahh, the tango. Eyes locked, two bodies moving as one. Wonderful composition and post. In my opinion I think cropping the top dead space and fully centering the subjects would work, since the couple IS the main the center of this tango world. My opinion. Well done.

Monty: Excellent capture, you serve your passion well.

John B.: Nice shot. I'd sure like to see that Jeep wompn' with a big ol grin from the driver...that would be cool.

jpepper23: No worries about the desat and contrast, I lke them in your capture. Very cute shot that is nicely composed, dof is spot on and background is not distracting. The only thing I'd love to see is the ball entering the frame...but I still know it's coming. Well done.

Once again, thank you all for taking the time to submit your photographs to this challenge, you've all presented some very nice captures.

Runner-Up: jpepper23

Winner: Ed

Ed, challenge #154 is now in your hands.
