Who is responsible for this?

Hi all, having a look around the plants in the garden I discovered this scene. Something had been cutting neat little curved pieces out of these leaves. The funny thing is, most of the cut-outs were still there, hanging by a tiny thread, so who has done this, and why? Any ideas?

That's an interesting one! Sorry, I've no idea what did that, but it reminds me of something I discovered a while ago:

When I was working on one of my cars up my friend's farm I kept hearing faint scraping noises that I couldn't work out what it was. Eventually I discovered the noises were being made by wasps biting the soft wood out of the grain on some plywood panels!

The panels were part of the barn door and the wasps had been gradually machining out strips of the wood grain. It was really noticeable once I had discovered what had been doing it.

Anway, just thought I'd mention it!

leafcutter bees have done the same damage to my roses!
quite large pieces compared to the small size of the bees!
