Granted, the competition isn't a wide spread thing.. as far as I know, anyway. But the dogs were judged on how far out into the pool they jumped. (at least that was one event).. this was in the new dog section of Western States Horse Expo in Sacramento a few weeks ago.

Unfortunately, the only time I was able to get out there (away from our booth) to shoot was at mid-day sun. .. but it was fun anyway.

Cool shots. We have a Lab that lives and breaths to catch a ball on the way into the pool.
Just looking at the pictures, if you ever get the chance to do this again you might try and keep the owners face in the shot, I have a feeling that they might be as interesting as the dogs.
Thanks for posting
Frank

thanks cencrunner. I cropped these pretty tight on the dogs to put into a little slideshow. I shot about six or seven different dogs .. I'll review them for owner expressions. In retrospect, I should have used a high sync fill flash. ... but after the first day of a 3 day trade show, not all of my brain cells were operating. ha. I'm convinced that the brain is directly connected to the feet.
