It was one of those *equipment failure* days. I couldn't get my remote to trigger one of the lights... so I just had one light.

.. anyway.. a couple of shots .. this was a club cutting in Lodi

LOL.. yeah, she looks tall, doesn't she? I don't recall seeing her off her horse.. but compared to the general size of the cattle, her horse looks to be pretty small.. I'm guessing 14.2H or 14.3H. I don't really know this gal. .. she's new to this club this year.

When I use to show, my first cutting horse was only 14.2H .. and my trainer, who took him into a few classes, was 6'5". (Sometimes his feet hit the ground.) Anyway, a small horse tends to emphasize a tall person's height.

Yep, that woman does look a wee bit tall! Great shots as always Playm :-) The horse in that first one just looks like an amazing athlete.

Thanks Kat. .. the trainer (rider) on that first horse is one of the most *quiet* and nicest guys you'd ever want to meet. He has a touch with the horses that make them really *want* to get out there and do their best. The horses he shows consistantly show a LOT of athleticism. Unfortunately, even though he's young, he's got macular degeneration. .. is well on his way to becoming blind. :( ... but I have a feeling that while he may have to give up cutting at some future date, he'll most likely still be able to continue 'starting' and training horses. (since so much of it is feel)

Good analogy shootreadyaim.. LOL. Like people, same with horses.. *extreme* action seems more the exception than the rule.. and happens when *everything comes together*. .. though it's a thrill when it happens. (and to catch the image!).. Hmm.. you peaked my curiosity to search out some *low shots* from prior years.. (hope ya'll will endulge me) (in the 1st shot, you can see that dirt is kicking up from the guy's heel... LOL)

Very cool Playm. You really timed these shots great. Hard to do. Especially like the second, the woman, and the third one. Horses are really getting in the dirt.

Thanks Ron. .. roan & woman = Peptoboonsmart & trainer Gail Hahn.

I like that 3rd shot too.. but didn't get the cow in the shot so I cropped it tight.

When is your show? (and don't forget to drop an em when you've got shots to show!) :)

BTW, I think the light looks great on your Sunday shots. Only the first one would maybe be better w/o the shadow but it is still good.
Your very last one of the previous years is as good as it gets.
