pics of sun with Welding mask

I was wondering if anyone has ever tried to shoot the sun with a welding mask. I want use a telephoto lens to zoom and put the shield in front of the lens. I am worried about damaging my sensor. Does anyone know if it will work or will I even get a half way decent picture out of it?

I used welding glass over my camcorder lens to shoot the last eclipse.
It works, but not the best for visual quality.

Baader solar film is not very expensive, produces a pleasant, neutral, tone and is quite easy to use to produce a filter that you know isn't going to fall off at the wrong moment and melt your sensor.

I would not recommend it. Get the proper filters.

Is it worth risking your expensive camera?
