LR3 - not import movies?

Is there any setting in LR3 to ignore certain file type when import?
I store my movies on a different directory and I don't want them to mix with picture files.

Without scanning the Import display: The Import command can get fairly narrow in selection of folders, etc. Don't tell it where the movies are

Well, you can either Import them with your other photos then select and remove them (quick) or you can deselect them from your Import dialog -- they'll still be on the card and you can copy/move them to the directory of your choice. I don't think there is a "smart ignore" of supported file types when importing...other than the ignore duplicates and the option to not treat jpegs as separate from Raws.

Uncheck the video files - the small check box in the upper left corner of each thumbnail.

I understand you can uncheck file I don't want to import but with hundreds of file, it's hard to un-check all videos. It would be much easier if I can sort by file type on the import dialog. Of course, configurable file type will be best. It's trivial to add such support. I can't believe it's not there in the first place.

Move them before importing the images into LR?

That would seem like a huge oversight on Adobe's part to not include some sort of filter.

Two ideas to try....I've never imported video into Lightroom so I don't know if either will work but it wouldn't hurt to try.

1. Create an Import Preset. Plug in your camera; uncheck the video files, then save the setting as a Preset. If you look at the lower middle of the Import dialog box you will see a drop-down box to save Import Presets.

2. Use the Sort function. Sort by File Name then uncheck the movie/video files.

Since my LR3 Beta has expired and I can't see the new Import interface, I'm taking a stab here: in the interface (before opening the actual dialog) when you select the card, doesn't a grid with the images open up? And can't you select a Sort order, like you do with the normal grid? If so, you can sort by file type and quickly select the CR2s to import and leave the video files alone, right?

I may be mistaken, though, about the interface, in which case you should ignore me. But please don't put me on your Ignore list, or I may feel sad and lonely...

Copy & delete movies first before import image works. I would rather do a format card instead of delete movies then format card.

I wish they support AVCHD. If they do, I can just use lightroom for all my digital media instead of lightroom for pictures then something else for movies.

Sincerely, I prefer download the memory card in a folder on my PC. Then sort the files an finally to making a sub folder for the pictures. When in LR, I import ONLY pictures

I'm using mac.
