I want to order a few CF cards, small cards that way if they crash I do not lose a large amount of photos, I always had Sandisk before, but this seems to be a good deal, I am not sure the write speed, I want something fast though, good deal?

First time I used one, it corrupted 147 pictures out of the 160 that I took. Just get the Sandisk.

Thanks for the quick response, I will stick with Sandisk, does the write speed have anything to do with how quickly the camera writes raw files? Or just transfer to pc?

I've got a couple Kingstons that are several years old and still going strong. I think they over-rate their speed though.

I've used them for years without a problem. But I have moved away from them to San Disk because I think the San Disk cards are faster.

I have a bunch of different brands. Kingston are definably cheaper. You are hit with speed on the getting the photo's off part. I have used them for about 2 years now and have never had and corruption problems.

I also have some Lexar Pro and Transcend 400x cards, and they transfer much faster. I use them if i am going to shoot lots of photo's or want a higher confidence factor for problems. The cards also cost double or more.

There is no right answer. If you would have posted asking if anyone recommends a Sandisk, and the first post said they corrupted the card on a shoot, would you assume that this brand is no good too?

Matt.

Have had one for the last 3 years and never had a problem. Would recommend them.

For your 5D write speed is just about irrelevant. As it is for transfer to PC if you're using USB.

My Delkins must be corrupt, because all my photos look like crap. :D

Seriously, Sandisk, Kingston, Lexar, Delkins, etc. are all decent.

Matt.

It didn't corrupt on a shoot, it corrupted father's day pictures. Would of been nice to have more than 1 picture of my dad from that day. First impressions make a big impact on the stuff I choose to buy...so no more Kingston's for me. I have over 10 Sandisk and Lexar cards and they have yet to let me down.

But that just enforces what I said. If your were terribly unlucky and the first Sandisk or Lexar card that you bought just happened to be defective, you would write off the whole brand? Lets face it. Nothing is perfect. Every manufacturer has a QA process, but that is not infallible, and it is totally impossible to test every single card they produce. They generally test on a random pick of cards in a lot and if all those work fine, then that lot is released as good. That is not to say that there may be a defective card inside that lot and you were the unlucky person who got it.

Now if one of your ten Sandisk cards failed and corrupted, would you scrap the whole brand and buy a different manufacturer?

Matt.
