Hi there,
I would like to ask to see if any one here knows what this equipment is.
I went on vacation, and found this guy using like a small grip that is screwed to his DSLR. it is like a monopod , except cut it and leave 6 inches. one hand (left hand ) is to hold the grip , the other , right hand is for pressing shutter?

What is the advantage?. what is this thing called?

Sounds, as you say, like a mix between a monopod and a handgrip. Care to toss up a sketch of this contraption?

Sounds like it could be one of THESE (external link), or is it more like THIS (external link)? I can possibly see a use for the former if you're shooting video...

It's probably more help when using the video. I think the Novoflex chestpod/shoulderpod is more useful for a mobile solution.
