I'm going on a trip to Montreal tomorrow, it's for my Daughters soccer team. I take lots of pics of the games, and I've been shooting raw only since I started (with the rebel and now the 20d). This has been fine for one game, one day. But I only have a 1gig and a 512meg card. Shooting Raw+jpeg Small, I've come very close to filling the 1gig card many times in just one game (the 20d shoots fast
). I need these 2 cards to last all weekend, with the potential of 5 games and seeing the sites. So I know I'm gonna have to use jpeg or run out of memory very quickly.
Also, I've been using aRGB, and I've not really tested out using parameters, so I'm not sure on how one might best use them for hopefully finished photos.
With the plan/hope of gettings shots right the 1st time,
-should I use aRGB or switch to sRGB
-make a custom parameter to get a more finished looking shot
-anything I'm not thinking of ?
I've never really tried post processing a jpeg, but I know it's best if you don't have to. Any pointers you may have for getting the greatest amount of keepers would be a great help.
I may change to raw for the odd shot here or there, but I'm pretty much stuck using jpeg for most of the next 3-4 days.
Got mine for $400 US. Evan though I have tons of cards I still like to “clean them off” when in the field for long missions. It’s more of a toy when you have lots of cards though. I got it to show people in third world countries there picture on a screen, when they don’t even have a mirror in there home to look at. The kids love looking at themselves on screens….they get a real kick out of it
