I found the cord that comes with my ipad to be too short. I put it on the floor when plugging it in to recharge and didn't lean it up against the wall. My husband walked on it, in the dark, and smashed the screen to smithereens. It still works fine, but it is now in the repair shop for a $200 screen replacement. It was three weeks old. Note to self: don't lie your ipad down on the floor. My stupid.

That's not the kind of thing that can be repaired under warranty. There's no warranty for stupid. To add insult to injury, I went to the Apple Store, stood in line for 10 minutes to see one of the store employees so that she could tell me that I couldn't have an appointment to see one of the genius' until 4:20 that afternoon (which was 5 hours later). I said, "I don't need to see one of those, I just need to drop this off to have the screen replaced." I was told that I still needed to see one of these people first and I ended up making an appointment for July 6. Nuts, eh?

You might say "it worked great in my right hand, but when I put it in my left hand this happened." :)

Intersting that both the iphone and the ipad have the same price to replace the screen. I had an incident with the iphone screen that took $200 to fix. The fix will be as good as new, but I am sure that you are missing it in the meantime.

I see people walking around without any cover on the ipad, that is I think stupid...yours is an accident! Don't be hard on yourself or your husband.

Cover or not, if it drops, something could break. Cover only really protects it from certain forms of impact.
Unless you go for a solid case, there is not that much difference there.

They are durable but the cases do not offer that much protection.

All this on iPad and nary a reference of concern towards the health and welfare of your husband's foot?

This is one thing that confuses me, the cable provided is the same length as my iPod (touch) and it is terribly short.

It is not long enough for me to charge whilst using it on my bed or on the couch. I have to tip over the side to do so. Using an extension cable caused the cable not to function. :(

My iPhone charger works just fine on an extension cord.

I might have to try another one. May have just been my ignorance giving up too easy.
