I am all set to buy a monopod along with a Kirk MPA-1 adapter, and I was very pleasantly surprised to learn Giottos sells monopods suitable for tall people (I'm 6'4). I prefer twist locks, so I'm looking at the MM 9780 (Giottos
/B&H
) and the MM 9180 (Giottos
/B&H
). Can anyone explain the major differences between these two models, and why I would want to spend significantly more on the 9180?
They appear to be very similar, with the 9780 folding 1cm longer than the 9180, but weighing a third of a pound less. They seem to come with slightly different feet (9780 has a spike?) and mounting platforms, but I'm unclear on the specific differences. Is the twist lock system the same for both models? The 91-series page specifically mentions that you can unlock all the twist locks in one motion, while the 97-series page doesn't say anything.
