i believe im going to add a 1d mark 2n to my setup. what lenses, especially, primes are the choice lenses for this model. i use a sigma 70-200 2.8 the majority of the time but im thinking 30mm and 50mm for group photos and landscape, etc. what says you?

I am also upgrading to the 1dn mk2 once the next paycheck rolls in.
(Thank goodness I started working again. Now I can buy all the stuff I dream about!)

I might recommend a 24-70 2.8
Those are very nice and I'm contemplating between getting one of those or getting the 1dn mk2 and waiting to see what new lenses Canon kicks out this fall.

85mm is often on my 1Dmk2. I also like using my Sigma 30mm on it as well.

50 1.4 and 24 2.8 are my primes. I love the outcome every time

im really leaning towards a 30mm. i have a 17-40 that im trading out as i really dont use it as much as id like. and when i do, im in the 24-35 range of the lens. how do you like the siggy 30. i really like my 70-200 even though its touchy at times.

How long is a piece of string?
I use a 300/2.8 but I guess if you were doing macro, that wouldn't suit and might be just a bit long.

I really like the lens, although it is better suited for me on my 50D over my 1D. Not the best Sigma prime I have, but it is good.

what would you say is the best prime under 70mm and outside of the L line up? i have nothing against an L series but for the handful of times a year that i use it, it just isnt cost effective

Love sigma 30mm f1.4 on my 1dmk2. That is why I haven't looked at 35L fo rmy 5d.

My pick would likely be the 50mm Sigma.

I've got the 1DMKIII which is the same 1.3 crop and my favorites are the 85L and 24-70L and I honestly can't say I prefer one over the other because I completely depend and rely on both of them.

For me it depends on the mood I'm in  Most of the time I have my 70-200 2.8 IS on there.

The 50 1.8 is a really nice length on the 1D2 and works out beautifully.

I'd say look at the lenses you've already got before second-guessing what you'll need after a new camera arrives. I don't believe either 30mm or 50mm would be wide enough for me to do landscapes.

Once you've worked out what focal length is missing for the new sensor size, then it's not too difficult to pick a lens that suits.

me, I generally have a 16-35, 24-70, or 70-200 mounted. The 50mm f/1.8 I've loaned out as I never use it...

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:
