Hey everyone, i'm in Houston, TX for the week, and last night, I was trying to take a cityscape. It unfortunately didn't work out, because each time i wet to take a picture, my lens would fog up. Each time I cleaned it off, about a minute later, it went back to normal. So is there anyway that I can contend with this?

The best way is to not take your camera directly from a cold A/C car into the heat and humidity, but that's not always an option. I had the same issue in Florida. I just unmounted the lens for a minute or so and it would resolve it self. Others will say put the equipment in zip-loc bags, but I have never tried this, so I don't know. I should have tried it the last couple of weeks.

As mentioned above, to avoid condensation, your lens will need to be at least as warm as the ambient temperature that you're shooting in. If the lens is cooler (from being in AC for instance), it will fog up as soon as you introduce it to warmer humid air.

How much time would you say I should give it to adjust to the outside air?

As long as it takes to get rid of the condensation. ;) It's going to depend on how cold it is coming out of the car and how hot it is outside. One thing you could try is to transport the camera/lens in the trunk. It doesn't get as cold as the inside of the car. Just a thought.

I use a regular messenger bag which I have padded with material from a pizza delivery bag which I found at an apartment I was painting. It's insulated, so when I change temperatures I just open my bag and wait a few minutes before taking my camera out.
