I still consider myself a beginner - I've been shooting for ~8 months now - and am in need of a zoom / telephoto lens for various reasons. I'll bee using it primarily for nature shots and sports shooting. I'm on a low budget (250 - 300 dollars) and have been looking at the canon 75 - 300 zoom lens and the sigma 70 - 300 zoom lens. It doesn't appear that either of those have OS or IS. I'd love some recommendations from experienced users. If you have any other suggestions within that budget please let me know. Thanks in advance.

The only thing I can tell you is: DON'T BUY A 75-300 World's worst lens.

I heard similar things about the sigma, but I know it for a fact on the canon.

No need to look further than the EF-S 55-250/4-5.6 IS.

On your budget this says it all.

There are certainly better lenses, but to say it's the worst? I own a 75-300 IS and have gotten some very nice shots with it. This is one at 300 MM f8 1/500 taken from a river boat going down the Nile in 09.

It's a lens not a lense!
