our family just returned from safari in Kenya. Just figuring out how to attach photos to posts. Here's one of my favorites. He/she just finishing a meal of ostrich. We took our 3 kids 9 11 13. They loved it, so did we. More photos to come.

Absolutely stunning? What photo gear did you bring? How expensive was the trip. Did you go on a photo safari or just travel there and then make tour arrangements?

Nice shot...hope you don't mind my edit. I converted to LAB and made a curves adjustment on the A & B channels to bring up some more color. I hadn't noticed the blood on his nose before.

My husband planned the trip for a year. We went with a family called Roberts safaris. They met and exceeded all expectations. Took 2 bodies and three lenses. Well worth it though

I use Photoshop so I can't comment on Lightroom. In PS it's just a matter of selecting Image-Mode-LAB. I converted back to RGB to save it as a jpg.

What would you say is a good amount to budget per person to cover most costs.

You are probably not going to like my answer but it was a costly trip. For the 5 of us around 15,000 - 20,000. This included 5 round trip tickets to and from Indpls to Nairobi. Then 4 trips within Kenya on 6 seater planes. Yikes. well worth it.

Well it averages to around 4000. per person. when you think of it that way it sounds a little better. LOL

That's a beautiful cheetah photo! I'm sure it was an amazing trip. Looking forward to seeing more of your photos!

Btw, on the cost, that's not bad, considering where you went and what you did.

That's a great shot. The edit makes it much better - though slightly over-saturated! Looking forward to the other shots!

We went to Kenya in April and absolutely loved it! A fantastic experience - we can't wait to go back!

With regard to costs, a lot depends on where you stay (lodges vs tented camps vs campsites) and vehicle (mini-van vs 4WD Safari jeeps). Also need to consider the number of days - which fatcat hasn't mentioned. Our trip cost us close to $5,000 for 10 days in lodges (except for 2 days when we stayed in a tented camp which we enjoyed more than the lodges) and in a proper 4WD jeep set up for photography. However, this was on a deal and it was during off-peak period - it costs considerably more during the Great Migration season (July-Sep). If any one else wants more details, pm me
