Another day at Summer lake wildlife area in Central Oregon. Many shorebirds are nesting at this time and were not very happy about my presence there. The refuge is located in a very lone and isolated section of the state, and not too many people ever visit it. I guess the birds are too used to quiet and peaceful setting, and don't tolerate humans easily. When I showed up, many avocets, stilts, terns, and gulls started flying very low and checking me out. When I got too close to the nests, many of which I was able to see from the road I was walking on, the birds got very upset. Many started acting as they were injured, just so they would draw my attention away from the nests. I didn't want to disturb them too much, so I took a few shots while they were hovering and screaming around my head, and then I left.
