Just a quick rant / information sharing post after visiting "Kayell" Brisbane.

www.kayellqld.com.au (external link) is a Photography store based near my work in Brisbane. After realising they were so close I thought that I may have finally found a decent store that was local(ish).

I visited them today interested in their Aurora Softbox range for my Elinchrom gear. After talking for a while they asked what gear I shoot I said Elinchrom, they spent the majority of the next few conversations telling me how Elinchrom gear is poorly made and their softbox construction isn't very durable (Elinchrom are well renowned for their Softboxes).

I'm not going to say too much, except that I won't be going back or ordering from this store. I myself work in sales and you do what you can to get a sale but you never directly insult the competition or tell someone that what they're using is ****.

So the search still continues, lets just hope DCW start having more stock on hand as their sales staff are very good.

Hey hey ...........

Mate of mine in Adelaide is selling up all his PCB gear, most literally "as new".

I can vouch that he's a really decent guy.

Here's a cut 'n paste of the message he sent me about the gear he has for sale ...........

Let me know if you want more information,

Hope this helps someone !!

Cheers,

Austen.

Here's a list of what I have and the price I would like. In total this equipment is over $3000 in value.

The lights are a week old as the supplier replaced my original lights for 220V ones two weeks ago .. I used them once last weekend.

The ring light has been used twice and is only 3 months old .. its just not me

The Explorer battery is 8 kilo's and has been used once also.

So basically its all brand new gear :)

Pass it onto to anyone you may know of who is looking for lighting if your not interested :)

If I don't get anyone interested by the end of the week I will put it all on eBay.

Manufacturer Model Price
Innovatronix Explorer XT Battery + Bag 400.00

Alien Bee B1600 - 220V Studio Light 400.00
Alien Bee B800 - 220V Studio Light 320.00
Alien Bee 22" Beauty Dish - Silver 100.00
Alien Bee 22" Grid + Diffuser Sock 75.00

Alien Bee ABR800 - 110V 450.00
DSE 220 to 110V Transformer 150.00
Alien Bee ABR800 Case 30.00
Alien Bee ABR800 Warming Filter Set 45.00

Alien Bee Transmitter CST 70.00
Alien Bee Receiver CSTB+ (x2) 200.00

I just want to take nice photographs of people.
