I don't mean to offend anyone, but what is it with those supposed techies who just love Apple a little too much? It doesn't make sense to me really.

About the same as PC lovers, Canon lovers, Nikon lovers, Sega Genesis lovers, Pong lovers, lovers of women. Tomato, 'tomayto'

I had an exntension cable on order from BH, 6 weeks later they emailed saying they still had no ETA, I cancelled the order and was refunded within 15minutes. Brilliant service they have. I really NEED to order one now too =[P.s for everyone interested (Quadra owners), Jerry Kacey is making me a bracket so I can use the 69" Octa with the Quadra head (basically any modifier on a Quadra head). Price is around the $200ish dollars (this hasn't been completely confirmed yet). Jerry is one of the best guys I've dealt with and his products are great.

Great daughter shot, BTW.

Yeah, there can be a bit of a lead :-) time on all Elinchrom stuff, but moreso on the gear that isn't the standard order.

cheers, juice (Canon shooter, Elinchrom lighter, but pretty much agnostic on brands.)

I'd say probably not (from a private sale) because there's not going to be an invoice with the package. Customs would have no idea how much you paid.

If you're buying from somewhere like DigitalRev on Ebay...It'd be possible to get hit.

GST yep, Duty depends on item

2nd hand or or gift doesn't change a thing. You could try undervaluing it (but you wouldn't be able to insure it for it for over $1000 and declare it under $1000)

Anyone want a cheap P&S, I've got 1 in the FS section

Almost certainly. GST is the main thing these days, as they killed a lot of the duty stuff when they brought the GST in.

Undervaluing can get you a bunch of penalties, though, if customs catch it.
