Sold my wide - back up plan ou the window - need some help... :)

Ive just sold my wide end, Right now my widest is 24mm. Im looking at buying the 12-24mm sigma - again... or even the 11-16mm toki. Also been looking at the 17-40mm.

Basically what else is there thats not 1000 +

Basically I was never happy with the 17-40 distortion & Corners, the zeiss 18 have huge flare and distortion probs. the only one I really liked of the above was the sigma but the corners was soft.

Have never tried the toki, or is there something else to consider.

If the zooms aren't doing it for you and you're looking at primes you might take a look at the Samyang 14mm manual everything prime. I'm happy with mine, especially for the money.

naaaahhh i really want AF or ill get the zeiss 21mm....

if someone could fill me in whether the toki 11-16 is as good or better than the 12-24 sigma when it comes to distortion and sharper i guess, if it is it will be the choice.

You're planning to use the 11-16 on your FF? I would think some may consider the vignetting as "distortion".

I really like the Sigma on my 5D. I tried all three (17-40, 11-16, 12-24) and ended up with the Sigma.

I felt that 11-16 wasn't practical, and 17-40 had too much overlap with my 24-105. The nice bonus is that 12-24 is fairly wide on crop bodies too (If you use a crop as backup like I do). The dark corners don't bother me because I can fix it in DPP or ACR easily.

Zeiss all the way. Why go with anything less?

Canon 10-16, Tokina 11-16, Sigma 10-20, Sigma 8-16.. all great wide angle lens.

The Zeiss is excellent also.

yeah i really liked the sigma on my 5d too, but it was soft in the corners not dark....

im really thinking that the Tokina is quite sharp, and the Zeiss look can be reproduced with filters and PP....

ps if anyone know of or have a good priced zeiss 21mm Im all ears...

LOL! This time I'm not letting it go. If I had to sell it in desperation to fund another lens, then yes.

That 8-16mm (use it on your 7D) looks REALLY good. Better than the 12-24 on FF it seems.

yeah but it looses that precious mm on the short end, its actually designed for Noink (1.5)

I'm curious why the Tokina 12-24 f4 II isn't on the list? It seems to get overlooked and I'm wondering if there is a good reason? -- the Tokina is under $500 at B&H and is f4 across the range. It also looks to be acceptable in performance?
