then the sigma 12-24 makes more sens since its for FF. the 11-16mm is atleast 2.8 and can be used for landscape and events. Honestly this is my own perception, I have not looked at the 12-24 II so its good that you mentioned it.

I'm curious why the Tokina 12-24 f4 II isn't on the list? It seems to get overlooked and I'm wondering if there is a good reason? -- the Tokina is under $500 at B&H and is f4 across the range. It also looks to be acceptable in performance?

Dave

I believe the Tokina 12-24 is for crop only. The B&H page says "for APS-C".

Not sure you're going to find an UWA lens that does not have soft corners and some sort of distortion, especially for under $1k.

yaeh I know Im all over trying out the 11-16mm as it gives me the AF and 2.8 - which means I can use it faster on events ... if it serves me for landscapes, I have seen a test ben did on a 5d2 and it seems i can fit it as a 16mm if needed on the 5d2 and on f11 it should be sharp no??

If you're not in a rush to buy, why not wait for the Tokina 16-28 when it comes out in September.

Im hoping that someone (ben) that has had/have both can tell me whether the 11-16 toki or the 12-24 siggy is a better buy when it comes to sharpness and distortion?

I loved my 11-16. I find that 24 on FF is nearly wide enough. I wish there were a better option to go wider than 24 on full frame than the Zeiss 21. It's expensive!

If its good its probably gonna sit on 16mm on my 5d2 more than anything else.

its almost 2mm wider on a 5d2 than on a 7d...
