Hi gents,

Yesterday, I've removed the grip from my Canon 20D. I assembled it again, and turn on the camera: no sign of life.....

Check-it again and still no sign of life. So, I decided to try other way: removed the grip and test both batteries on the camera. Result: the camera works fine.

Any ideias from you? Keep in mind that the grip is a blank product I bought on Ebay, and it have working only (more or less) 5 times. I bought it on April 2010.

Thanks in advance for the time and attention.

Best regards
José Luís

Difficult to say what/where the problem is.

Grips aren't very complicated. Time to see if the warranty has any value.

PS: I've owned both Canon and third party grips. So far, all have been real workhorses.

You didn't manage to turn the switch on the grip to "off" did you?

Bohdan,

Many thanks for your time and reply. I've checked all contacts inside the camera and on the grip, and everything seems ok.

Thansk for the reply anyway.

Regards
José Luís

That only disables the wheel and buttons on the grip. It does not affect power.

bannedPermanent ban

Something similar happened to mine, mine powerd up fine but none of buttons worked and battery was not shown properly.

I sent it in to canon and said it was the motherboard. Replaced it and it works like a champ.

You will probobly just have to send it in.

Is there a chance that the threaded connection became loose on your grip? My nikon one did that--regularly--and nothing worked then.
Good luck!

Thansk all for your comments about my grip problem.

I've contacted the seller and I hope we can solve the problem, which means to send me a new one.

As per you information I checked all contact on the grip and also clean them with a cotton swab and alchool. It doesn't work at all. The batteries work perfect direct inserted on the camera.

Let's see what the supllier will tell me....

Best regards to all and once again thank you for the kind help.

Regards
José Luís
