The warranty card is meaningless - Canon only will accept the original receipt from an authorized dealer. Wow, what a nice picture! You must have a really great camera!

Canon won't ask, so the owner would need to volunteer the information...why open that "can of worms" for no reason? The original receipt won't have any mention of Ebay on it.
