My secret

just got to be the winner

I worked hard to pay all my other things off (things they call bills), then started selling,upgrading, changing things out, buying things on here (used), and just watched my collection grow.

I just traded for the 1D MKIII as I am starting to like to shoot sports now.

I do know this through all my upgrading, buying, etc...Gear does not make you a good photog! There are people on here that could pick any one of 100 of their shots that were taken with much less expensive gear, and blow away my best photo.

The Secret To Being able To Afford Equipment

Some tips on being able to afford equipment.

1.) Drive an economical car and pay cash for it. I see friends who finance a 30K SUV and end up paying 6K in interest over 5 years. I drive a car I paid 11k for out the door that comes with a 100k warranty and 34 MPG. Thats a lot of toys in savings.

2.) Eat to live and dont live to eat. Cut back on the out to eats.

3.) Quit smoking. That should buy you a 7d in one year.

4.) Quit drinking alchohol. There is a nice L lens.

5.) Don't use credit cards. All the interest you pay can buy some nice equipment.

6.) Buy Used equipment.

You left out just one thing. Don't get the full package for cable or satellite TV. That may save you $100/month right there. TV antenna only may save you $150/month.

Beyond that, Red Wine is good for the heart so drink up me hearties, yo ho!

Working hard, saving money, driving used cars, making sure the only payment I have is my mortgage. It also helps that my husband makes pretty good money and is always deployed, which brings in tax free, war zone money.
