I would like to purchase InDesign CS5 for some publishing I've been hired to do. As a student, I am prepared to buy the full (student) version. But things like this make me wonder about more than just the one piece of software I need - I'd love LightRoom 3 (I have 2) and PS, as well.

So how does this work, if it works at all? Volume license means...?

I love Canon!

If it's too good to be true: it probably is.

Bulk licensing gets me CS5 (master collection) through my college for a little under $400. A $2600 software bundle for $60?

It's a scam (or a pirated version).

Well he goes into a big tangent at the bottom about how bad pirating software is, so I am not sure.

If as a student you can get the legit version I would get it.

Really? I'd like in! It's $899 for the CS5 master collection student version by all accounts I could find through my school and through Adobe.

As far as the original posting goes, curiousity got the better of me and I called Adobe and asked them directly. They told me, in so many words, that this software is basically piracy. (I didn't expect them to say otherwise, however.) They told me that it might be gray market software and is installed under one serial number, and you're likely asked to never contact Adobe for help, and that you should go to them for help. Or that a serial number doesn't exist and you couldn't get help from Adobe anyway. Adobe told me there are multiple ways to get software, but it's a crap shoot with regards to legailty and functionality. I don't disagree, and as a legit owner of other Adobe software, I support them.

I think that's the idea ;).

Oh believe me, I know. If your school has a software licensing service through the IT department I would check there before paying the 'full' student price (which is still $1700 cheaper than retail!).
