Hi folks,

Just got my Canon 17-55mm IS f/2.8 IS lens which is now safely secured on my Canon 450D. Only thing is it's a bit bigger than my original kit lens.

So, can anyone who has the same sort of set up please recommend me a new padded bag that will take the camera with lens on so that the back of the camera sits snugly at the edge of the back.

Thanks very much

Ian

I would use a Domke F-5XB for that. It might even fit a F-5XA.

I had a tamrac 3537 when I had my XSi. It fit pretty well until I gripped the camera and the bag wasn't quite wide enough.

I now use a Crumpler 6 million dollar home for my T2i

Do you want to carry anything else or just the body and lens? I have the exact same setup and I have the Crumpler 3 Million Dollar Home for when that's all I want to bring along. It's a perfect fit but there is room for nothing else (except for a few small acessories).

Thanks very much for replis folks.

@ vandy02 - that sounds interesting. could be what i'm after. Do you store yours with the lens hood left on, reversed?

Don't suppose I could be really cheeky and ask if you could take a few snaps of it with the camera in, out etc etc - would be a big help?

Kind regards

Ian

Crumpler 4MDH would be nice and has a little extra room for another lens or flash down the road.

<shameless plug>I have one for sale in the Marketplace if you're interested:)</shameless plug>

I store it in the bag lens pointed down, with the hood reversed. If I don't reverse the hood, the bag won't close fully but can still be stuck in there that way in a pinch. I can take some pics tonight when I get home from work.

If you REALLY want to just carry the body with lens and hood attached, consider the ThinkTank Holster 20 or 30. Simple, small, and convenient.

Domke F-5XB should hold it just fine sideways, camera-grip to the top, hood in place ready to shoot. It will not hold a gripped (add-on) or pro body however.

Here are a few shots. Sorry for the bad quality, taken with my cell camera.

This is what I take when I am limited for space and it might work for you.

this is a EF-S 18-200mm IS lens on a 550D body which fits snuggly into this small LowePro bag that I then either wear over my shoulder, or put into a larger backpack or suitcase.
I think this bag was designed for a video camera, but it works very well for me with an 18-55mm or 18-200mm attached to a DSLR

I have 2 bags - Crumpler 7 Million (if I want to bring most of my gear) and the Lowepro Rezo 170 (for a quick outing to fit the T2i + 17-55/hood attached and another small lens or Speedlite 430EX II).

I initially had the Lowepro Rezo 160 but returned it for the slightly larger 170. The 160 might fit your bill. It can fit the Rebel + 17-55/hood attached plus the Speedlite 430 (or anything small). You got a very nice lens. You should pair it up with a Speedlite to make a difference in your shots. I got the 170 because I wanted to fit the Rebel + 17-55/hood attached plus the Speedlite or my Canon 10-22. Both Rezos have dividers so everything will be snug and not move around.
