Well got my Ha 7nm filter and couldn't wait to play. But as usual work and the weather got in the way for nearly a month.

Well Back in early June I got some LRGB of M27, not brilliant but a start with the QHY9.

Last night I 1st lighted the 7nm Ha filter and crapped about 80mins worth as M27 was at zenith areas

Hours and hours of messing around trying to combine the data without it turning pink. Add to the confusion the rotation of the separate images, oh was fun.

Well here is the final result my HaRaGB image of M27.

Why HaRa ??? Well the red channel was combined in a 80 / 20 ration with the Ha channel and then combined into the Green and Blue, hence my term for it RaGB. The Ha was then re-added as luminance to give HaRaGB :) I likes it :)

Breakdown
90min Ha in 4 x 20min subs and 1x10min sub
1 hour of RGB each in 8 and 10 min subs
Luminance was ditched.

Taken on EQ6 Pro with Skywatcher ED120 Diamond Refractor at 900mm F7.5 and QHY9 Mono with filter wheel.

Guide with PHD and QHY5 Off Axis to the QHY9

Processed in CS5 / DSS and MaximDL 5

I hope you like it, took a few hours and I seem to have even got some of the outer shell of M27 too :)

Wow, that's possibly the best picture I've ever seen of M27!! Well done Cat.

What's with the big red stars around the edges of the image though, that look like blood cells with the dark-ish centre? Is that something in the processing?

Yes mate the HaR processing is causing this. Working on another slightly different work plan to see if I can eliminate them :)

Thanks for the comments, I was quite please with this explosion in space.

Wow, I open this thread and am blown away by your image, bw!

Plus the time it took for set-up and PP, definitely gotta love the hobby, and it shows in your work.
